![]() ![]() The MKM brand, already used in the past, has been refreshed and relaunched to offer new collections, created through partnerships with local knife makers. Founded in 1960, the consortium brings together manufacturers of knives, scissors and similar products and has been promoting local craftsmanship for almost 60 years. It is based in Maniago itself, about 70 miles from Venice, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region (Italy). MKM, or Maniago Knife Makers, is a consortium representing knife makers. To reduce weight, it is made of steel wire (wire clip). A two-position (right/left) deep carry clip allows the knife to be carried in tip-up position. To improve grip, the handle has been deeply textured. ![]() This makes it easier to carry the knife on the equipment or backpack straps. It was screwed to an orange, aluminium backspacer in the shape of a carabiner. Handle - made of green FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon), a very light and durable material. ![]() The entire blade is locked with a proven and popular liner lock. On the back of the blade there is a small jimping (notched part) on which you can comfortably rest your thumb. The blade was covered with a black protective coating. The small thickness of the blade in combination with the high, flat grind gives us cutting properties almost on the level of a razor. Opens with a hole in the blade, so it can be used by left and right-handed people without any problems. Manufactured by Böhler Edelstahl in Kapfenberg, Austria.īlade - clip point made of Bohler N690Co stainless steel, which holds sharpness well and is very easy to sharpen. ![]() This super steel is comparable to Carpenter's CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. The steel has a high chromium content of 20.0% (Cr) doped with 1.9% carbon (C), vanadium 4.0% (V), and is hardened between 59-61 HRC. Another of the advantages is resistance to the formation of "wire" during sharpening. Due to its high wear resistance, it adequately maintains the shape of the edge, so the blade stays sharp for a very long time (requiring minimal maintenance). Due to the alloy concept, it has extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. M390 - a martensitic high-performance chrome steel produced by powder metallurgy.
